Social Venues

It’s free to explore downtown. It’s recommended that you check our Downton guide (follow this link) for selected restaurants to visit; most of them are English-spoken.

We have two recommendations after the conference.

Tuesday is “Lucha Libre Day” (wrestling fights), starting at 20h30 at the Coliseum arena downtown. In Mexico, it is a surreal spectacle. During the conference, you can register for a list in the information area at DiGRA 2024. We can meet at 19h30 at the Degollado Teather main entry in front of Plaza de Armas and back to the Cathedral. We plan to go together to the Coliseum Arena (in 17-person groups for available transport). Casual dress code. Entry is to be paid by each participant (the most expensive ticket is 500 MXN in the first row).

A typical Mexican restaurant starts with a good cocktail, a mixology, or a straight tequila and continues with a Mexican gastronomic experience. It’s best to arrive at 19h30 since the restaurant closes at 22h. You can place your name in the DiGRA 2024 reception to reserve for a group. The dress code is casual. Consumption in the restaurant is to be paid by each participant. Menu starts with 450 MXN.

Taller del Chucho is the workshop studio where Film Director Guillermo del Toro worked for 10 years the film Pinocchio. Transportation & group for 17 people. Plese get the registry on the DiGRA 2024 reception. Visit the website for more information following this link.

Second trip to taller del Chucho.

Visit la Fuente Cantina, an old bar where time has stopped. Follow this link for Google Maps indications; it’s close to downtown Cathedral. Dress code casual.

After an entire DiGRA conference, we recommend going to Tlaquepaque Town. It is full of souvenirs and restaurants, and most of the shops and restaurants are English friendly.
